Counseling
JFS Staff of Licensed Clinical Social Workers provides professional counseling for a wide-range of problems, including:
- Couples therapy
- Individual and family therapy
- Children and adolescents
- Aging and dealing with aging parents
- Grief and mourning
- Life transitions
Fees are based on ability to pay. Private insurance, Medicare and TennCare are accepted, when applicable.

Adoption Connection
Adoption Connection has been bringing babies together with adoptive families for over 50 years. We offer confidential, professional services to birth parents and adoptive parents, regardless of race, religion or national origin. Adoption Connection is licensed as a child-placing agency in Tennessee and Mississippi and has a reputation as a leader in adoption programs locally, statewide and nationally.

Amputee Support Program
Out on a Limb
Selected as a 2006 Mutual of America Foundation Community Partnership Merit Finalist, the Jewish Family Service program Out on a Limb – Memphis Area Limb Loss Support (OOAL), provides information and support to people “touched by the loss of a limb.”
OOAL provides monthly support group meetings, houses the Memphis Amputee Support Library and, as an affiliate support group of the Amputee Coalition of America (ACA), it arranges for ACA Certified Peer Visitors to meet with recent amputees or with people facing amputation surgery.

Children of Divorce
Mandated by the State of Tennessee, divorcing couples with minor children must participate in this four-hour program which focuses on parenting skills after divorce. Jewish Family Service is an approved provider by Circuit and Chancery Courts. The program takes place from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month. The fee is $40.

Parent to Parent
Parent to Parent is a peer-driven, community-based program which empowers parents with the knowledge, skills and strategies for dealing with critical issues of adolescence. The eight sessions are facilitated by a trained volunteer. Groups are scheduled when registration warrants. No fee other than $10 to purchase a workbook. Social Singles
Jewish Family Service sponsors a social and recreational singles group for Jewish men and women with special challenges. The activities foster feelings of achievement, independence and socialization for participants and a respite for caregivers.

Financial Assistance
Jewish Family Service and clients from our Memphis Jewish community benefit greatly from grants which help underwrite important agency services:
- The Elaine Ames Senior Outreach Fund provides funding which allows JFS staff to bring Jewish programming opportunities to older adults who are disconnected from the Jewish community.
- The Rose and Ben Margolin Family Assistance Fund provides financial help to meet special needs within the Jewish community.
- The Joseph Margolin Loan Fund was established at Jewish Family Service in 1995. Since its inception, a total of 53 loans have been granted to help individuals and families who needed a little extra help when other resources were exhausted.
- The Nate and Minnie Bernstein Scholarship Program provides need-based scholarships for Jewish boys and girls. The scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the JFS Board of Directors Scholarship Committee.
- The Lewis “Red” Kramer Jewish Loan Association is conducted in concert with The Memphis Jewish Federation. Our purpose is to aid members of our Jewish community remain self-supporting and self-respecting persons through money loans and financial counseling.
